Target Information
Adipose tissue regulates metabolism and immunity by producing adipokines. The C1q/TNF-related proteins (CTRPs) 1–7 are structural and functional paralogs of adiponectin. Unlike adiponectin, CTRPs are expressed in diverse tissues and act mainly on liver and muscle to control glucose and lipid metabolism. CTRP5 has been suggested to be involved in age-related macular degeneration.
