Target Information
STK39 (also known as STLK3) participates in the cellular stress response pathway. It becomes activated under hypotonic stress, leading to phosphorylation of several cation-chloride-coupled co-transporters. STK39 also activates the p38 MAP kinase pathway, with its interaction with p38 decreasing during cellular stress. This kinase acts as an intermediate in the stress response and is an independent risk factor for hypertension in men, with intragenic SNPs potentially influencing blood pressure regulation.
