GAMT는 guanidoacetate를 creatine으로 전환시키는 methyltransferase로, S-adenosylmethionine을 methyl donor로 사용합니다. GAMT 유전자의 결함은 creatine 결핍 및 guanidinoacetate 축적으로 인한 신경학적 증후군과 근육 저긴장증과 관련이 있습니다. 이 유전자는 서로 다른 isoform을 암호화하는 두 가지 전사 변형체를 가지고 있습니다.
