Target Information

EPHB1 is a receptor tyrosine kinase belonging to the ephrin receptor family. Eph family kinases play key roles in processes such as nervous system development, angiogenesis, and synapse formation and maturation. EphB1 and related proteins are type I membrane-spanning receptors with immunoglobulin, fibronectin type III, and cysteine-rich domains in the ectodomain, and a cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase domain upstream of a SAM domain.

EphB family proteins bind B-class ephrins, which are transmembrane ligands capable of bidirectional signaling. EphB1 is predominantly expressed in developing neural structures and vascular epithelium of kidney and other tissues. Upon binding ephrin B1, EphB1 regulates cell attachment and cell–cell assembly, playing roles in neuronal and vascular cell targeting.
