Target Information
ZEB1 inhibits interleukin-2 (IL-2) gene expression and may be responsible for transcriptional repression of the IL-2 gene. It can enhance or repress the promoter activity of the ATP1A1 gene depending on cDNA quantity and cell type.
ZEB1 represses the E-cadherin promoter and induces epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) by recruiting SMARCA4/BRG1. It also represses BCL6 transcription in the presence of the corepressor CTBP1 and promotes tumorigenicity by repressing stemness-inhibiting microRNAs.
ZEB2 is a transcriptional inhibitor that binds to the DNA sequence 5'-CACCT-3' in different promoters and represses transcription of E-cadherin.
