Target Information
This gene encodes a serotonin receptor (5HT4), a G protein-coupled receptor that stimulates cAMP production in response to serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine). The protein functions in both the peripheral and central nervous systems to modulate neurotransmitter release. Multiple transcript variants encoding proteins with distinct C-terminal sequences have been described, though some full-length variants remain undetermined.
