Description:
The eBioM3/38 antibody reacts with mouse Galectin-3 (Mac-2). Galectins are a family of animal lectins with diverse biological functions. Galectin 3 (LGALS3, Mac-2, L-29) is a 30 kDa beta-galactoside-binding protein with a C-terminal carbohydrate binding site, capable of binding IgE and mammalian cell surfaces when dimerized or oligomerized.
It is expressed in epithelia, macrophages, dendritic cells, and Kupffer cells, and up-regulated during inflammation, proliferation, differentiation, and viral trans-activation.
This monoclonal antibody eBioM3/38 also cross-reacts with human Galectin-3 (LGALS3).

Applications Reported:
Reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Tested by intracellular staining and flow cytometric analysis. Recommended usage ≤ 0.25 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test. Optimize titration for best performance.

Staining Buffers:
Compatible with Foxp3 buffers or IC Fixation Buffers (Product # 88-8823-88).

Filtration:
0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

Galactose-specific lectin that binds IgE. Mediates endothelial cell migration via CSPG4 and integrin α3β1. Required for epithelial cell differentiation with DMBT1. Acts as a pre-mRNA splicing factor in the nucleus. Involved in acute inflammatory responses, including neutrophil activation, monocyte chemoattraction, opsonization of apoptotic neutrophils, and mast cell activation.
