Target Information

EPHA5 belongs to the ephrin receptor subfamily of the protein tyrosine kinase family. EPH and EPH-related receptors are implicated in developmental events, particularly in the nervous system. Protein kinases transfer phosphate groups from donors such as ATP to substrate proteins, mediating signal transduction that regulates metabolism, transcription, cell cycle, cytoskeletal rearrangement, movement, apoptosis, and differentiation.

The tyrosine kinase (TK) group primarily regulates cell-cell interactions including differentiation, adhesion, motility, and death. Approximately 90 TK genes have been sequenced, including 58 receptor protein TKs (e.g., EGFR, EPH, FGFR, PDGFR, TRK, VEGFR families) and 32 cytosolic TKs (e.g., ABL, FAK, JAK, SRC families).
