Target Information

GAPDH (Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase) is a catalytic enzyme involved in glycolysis.
It exists as a tetramer of identical 37-kDa subunits and catalyzes the reversible reduction of 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate to glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate in the presence of NADPH.

Beyond glycolysis, GAPDH is ubiquitously expressed and participates in various cellular processes such as:

• DNA replication and repair
• Nuclear RNA export
• Membrane fusion and microtubule bundling
• Apoptosis and neurodegenerative disease mechanisms (e.g., Alzheimer’s and Huntington’s disease)

Due to its high expression in most tissues, GAPDH is widely used as a protein loading control in Western Blot analysis.
