Cystatin A (STF1, STFA, stefin A, cystatin AS)와 Cystatin B (PME, CST6, STFB, CPI-B, stefin B, liver thiol proteinase inhibitor)는 thiol protease inhibitor로서 Papain 및 cathepsin B, H, L과 복합체를 형성합니다.
Cystatin A는 각질형성세포의 세포질 단백질로서 표피 발달과 유지에 관여하며, Cystatin B는 리소좀으로부터 누출된 세포 내 프로테아제로부터 보호 기능을 수행하며 주로 심장, 간, 신장에서 발현됩니다.
