CFHR5 유전자는 염색체 1에 위치한 complement factor H (CFH) 유전자 클러스터의 구성원입니다. 이 단백질은 9개의 short consensus repeats (SCRs)를 포함하며, 일부 반복 부위는 heparin 및 C-reactive protein 결합 특성을 가집니다. CFHR5 단백질은 C3와 공동 위치하며 C3b를 농도 의존적으로 결합하고, 손상된 조직으로 모집됩니다. 또한 이 유전자 변이는 MPGNII 및 HUS와 관련된 신장 질환과 연관되어 있습니다.
