Target Information
Muscarinic cholinergic receptors belong to the G protein-coupled receptor family. Their functional diversity is defined by acetylcholine binding, mediating cellular responses such as adenylate cyclase inhibition, phosphoinositide degradation, and potassium channel regulation.
Muscarinic receptor 1 (CHRM1) is involved in vagally induced bronchoconstriction and gastric acid secretion. The CHRM1 gene is localized to chromosome 11q13.
