Product Specific Information
The eBioMC-813-70 monoclonal antibody reacts with a glycolipid carbohydrate epitope on Stage-specific embryonic antigen-4 (SSEA-4) protein.
Expression is found on human teratocarcinoma stem cells (EC), embryonic germ cells (EG), induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells, and embryonic stem cells (ES), with decreased expression upon differentiation. Expression has also been observed on bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells.
This antibody crossreacts with mouse, rabbit, canine, chicken, and Old/New World monkeys.
Applications Reported: Suitable for immunocytochemistry (ICC/IF).
Applications Tested: Validated on fixed NTERA-2 and 2102Ep cells at ≤10 µg/mL. Optimize dilution for best performance.
Filter Recommendation:
For eFluor® 570 conjugate, use filters capturing 570 nm emission (e.g., Excitation 545/25, 565LP, Emission 605/70).
Standard Alexa Fluor® 555 or TRITC filters are acceptable.

Target Information
SSEA-4 (Stage-specific embryonic antigen 4) is a cell surface antigen expressed with SSEA-3, TRA-1-60, and TRA-1-81 in embryonic stem cells, embryonal carcinoma cells, and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS).
In human cells, these markers are downregulated during differentiation, while SSEA-1 is absent in undifferentiated cells and upregulated after retinoic acid-mediated differentiation.
In mouse stem cells, SSEA-1 expression decreases with differentiation, whereas SSEA-3 and SSEA-4 expression increase.
