Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family, which regulates various cellular processes such as growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation.
Two alternatively spliced transcript variants exist:
- Receptor-type PTP with a short extracellular domain, single transmembrane region, and two tandem catalytic domains.
- Nonreceptor-type isoform with a distinct hydrophilic N-terminus.
Mouse studies suggest roles in RAS-related signal transduction, cytokine-induced SATA signaling, and activation of voltage-gated K⁺ channels.
