CEA Cell Adhesion Molecule 6 (CEACAM6) belongs to the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) family, which includes GPI-anchored cell surface glycoproteins.
Members of this family play roles in cell adhesion and are widely used as tumor markers in serum immunoassays for carcinoma detection.
CEACAM6 influences tumor cell sensitivity to adenovirus infection and acts as a receptor for adherent-invasive E. coli binding to ileal epithelial cells in Crohn’s disease patients.
