Target Information
N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors are ionotropic glutamate-gated ion channels involved in long-term potentiation, a mechanism underlying memory and learning. These receptors are heteromeric complexes composed of the NMDAR1 (GRIN1) subunit and one or more of the NMDAR2 subunits (NMDAR2A–D). The NMDAR2A (GRIN2A) subunit contributes to receptor diversity and synaptic plasticity. Alternative splicing generates multiple isoforms of this gene.
