Target Information

Cystatin superfamily는 여러 cystatin-like 서열을 포함하는 단백질군입니다. 일부 구성원은 활성 cysteine protease 억제제이며, 다른 구성원은 이러한 활성을 잃었거나 가지지 않습니다.
이 유전자는 stefin을 암호화하며, papain 및 cathepsins B, H, L과 강력한 결합을 형성하는 cysteine protease 억제제로 작용합니다. 또한, 각질형성세포의 cornified cell envelope의 전구체 단백질 중 하나로서 피부 발달 및 유지에 관여합니다. Stefins은 암의 진단 및 예후 지표로 제안된 바 있습니다.
