Target Information
HOXD13 (homeobox protein D13) belongs to a class of transcription factors called homeobox proteins. In vertebrates, these proteins are found in clusters (A, B, C, and D) on four separate chromosomes. Their expression is spatially and temporally regulated during embryonic development. The HOXD13 gene is part of the D cluster on chromosome 2. Deletions involving this cluster are associated with limb and genital abnormalities, and mutations in HOXD13 cause synpolydactyly.
