Target Information
TRPCs are mammalian homologs of the Drosophila transient receptor potential (trp) protein and function as ion channels mediating capacitative calcium entry into cells. TRP-PLIK is both an ion channel and a kinase; it conducts calcium and monovalent cations, depolarizing cells and increasing intracellular calcium levels. Its kinase activity, dependent on intracellular ATP, is essential for channel function.
