- For IHC, use heat-mediated antigen retrieval with citrate buffer (pH 6) before staining.

Target Information
This gene encodes a subunit of mitochondrial ATP synthase, which catalyzes ATP synthesis using an electrochemical proton gradient across the inner membrane during oxidative phosphorylation.
ATP synthase consists of two linked multi-subunit complexes:
- F1: Soluble catalytic core composed of subunits α, β, γ, δ, and ε (stoichiometry 3α:3β:1γ:1δ:1ε)
- Fo: Membrane-spanning proton channel composed of subunits a, b, and c
This gene encodes the α subunit of the catalytic core. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. Pseudogenes are located on chromosomes 9, 2, and 16.
