Target Information

ZNF198 is a ubiquitously expressed nuclear protein with largely unknown physiological roles.
It contains five N-terminal zinc finger motifs for protein-protein interactions, a central proline-rich domain, and a C-terminal nuclear localization signal (NLS) with an acidic domain.
Chromosomal translocation involving ZNF198 and FGFR1 leads to formation of the ZNF198/FGFR1 fusion kinase, which acts as a constitutively active cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase regulating STAT transcription factors (STAT1, STAT3, STAT5).
This fusion protein is oncogenic and associated with atypical myeloproliferative disease, peripheral blood eosinophilia, and T-cell leukemia/lymphoma.
