Target Information
PRUNE2 gene (also named BMCC1) encodes protein prune homolog 2. This gene overlaps with PCA3, one of the most prostate cancer–specific markers. PRUNE2 may play an important role in regulating differentiation, survival, and aggressiveness of tumor cells.
It is highly expressed in the nervous system (brain, cerebellum, spinal cord) and in certain cancer cell lines such as neuroblastoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, melanoma, and osteosarcoma. Expression is low in liver, breast, thyroid, and colon cancer cell lines.
