For conjugation experiments using this carrier-free antibody, perform an additional desalting step.

Target Information
Ep-CAM (epithelial adhesion molecule, ESA) is a transmembrane glycoprotein (~40 kDa) expressed in epithelial tissues.
It functions as a calcium-independent cell adhesion molecule and influences cell cycle, proliferation, and metabolism through regulation of c-myc, cyclin A, and cyclin E genes.
Ep-CAM-mediated adhesions negatively regulate cadherin-mediated adhesions, affecting epithelial differentiation and growth.
Overexpression of Ep-CAM is associated with enhanced epithelial proliferation and is highly expressed in human carcinomas, serving as a marker for epithelial-derived tumors.
Ep-CAM is localized on the basolateral surface of most simple epithelia and various carcinoma types and helps distinguish adenocarcinomas from pleural mesotheliomas.
