Product Specific Information

The eBioH35-17.2 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD8 beta molecule. The CD8 beta chain associates with the CD8 alpha chain to form the CD8 alpha/beta heterodimer expressed on most thymocytes and peripheral cytotoxic alpha beta TCR T cells. CD8 binds to MHC class I and plays a role in T cell development and activation of mature T cells.

Target Information

The CD8B antigen is a cell surface glycoprotein found on most cytotoxic T lymphocytes that mediates cell-cell interactions within the immune system. Acting as a coreceptor with the T-cell receptor, CD8 recognizes antigens displayed by antigen-presenting cells in the context of class I MHC molecules. The functional coreceptor can be a homodimer (two alpha chains) or a heterodimer (one alpha and one beta chain). Both chains share homology with immunoglobulin variable light chains. This gene encodes the CD8 beta chain isoforms, with multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants. A pseudogene is also located on chromosome 2.
