Target Information
This gene belongs to the subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). hnRNPs are RNA-binding proteins that complex with heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA). These proteins are associated with pre-mRNAs in the nucleus and influence pre-mRNA processing, mRNA metabolism, and transport. While most hnRNPs are nuclear, some shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm. The encoded protein can act as a tetramer and participates in assembling 40S hnRNP particles. Multiple transcript variants encoding at least two isoforms have been described.
