cAMP는 다양한 세포 기능에 중요한 신호 분자입니다. cAMP는 cAMP 의존성 단백질 키나아제(AMPK)를 활성화하여 여러 표적 단백질의 인산화를 통해 신호를 전달합니다. AMPK의 비활성 홀로엔자임은 두 개의 조절 소단위와 두 개의 촉매 소단위로 구성된 사량체입니다. cAMP는 네 개의 cAMP가 결합된 두 개의 조절 소단위 이합체와 두 개의 자유 촉매 소단위로 분리시킵니다. 인간에서는 네 가지 조절 소단위와 세 가지 촉매 소단위가 확인되었습니다. 본 유전자가 암호화하는 단백질은 조절 소단위 중 하나로, 활성화된 촉매 소단위에 의해 인산화될 수 있으며 다양한 A-kinase 앵커 단백질과 상호작용하여 AMPK의 세포 내 위치를 결정할 수 있습니다.
