S100A9 (MRP-14)은 2개의 EF-hand 칼슘 결합 모티프를 포함하는 S100 단백질 패밀리의 구성원입니다. S100 단백질은 다양한 세포의 세포질 및/또는 핵에 위치하며, 세포 주기 진행 및 분화와 같은 여러 세포 과정의 조절에 관여합니다. S100 유전자는 염색체 1q21에 군집 형태로 존재하는 최소 13개의 구성원을 포함합니다. 이 단백질은 casein kinase의 억제에 기능할 수 있으며, 발현 변화는 낭포성 섬유증과 관련이 있습니다.
