Target Information
This gene, a member of the tetraspanin superfamily, is located in the imprinted gene domain of chromosome 11p15.5, an important tumor-suppressor region. Alterations in this region are associated with Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, Wilms tumor, rhabdomyosarcoma, adrenocortical carcinoma, and various cancers (lung, ovarian, breast).
It may play a role in malignancies and hematopoietic cell function. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described, though their biological validity remains undetermined.
