Target Information
This gene encodes a protein with six RCC1-like domains (RLDs), characteristic of guanine nucleotide exchange factors. The encoded protein is localized in the Golgi body and interacts with RPGRIP1. It is essential for the viability of rod photoreceptors, and mutations are associated with X-linked retinitis pigmentosa (XLRP). Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been reported.
