The Human S100 A8/A9 Simplex ProcartaPlex Kit measures S100 A8/A9 protein and can be combined with other Simplex kits to create customized multiplex panels utilizing Luminex xMAP technology for protein detection and quantitation. When combining multiple Simplex kits, only one buffer kit (sold separately) is required per assay plate, regardless of plex size.

About ProcartaPlex Assays for the Luminex Platform

ProcartaPlex immunoassays are based on the principles of a sandwich ELISA, using two highly specific antibodies binding to different epitopes of one protein to quantitate multiple targets simultaneously with a Luminex instrument. These assays require as little as 25 μL of plasma or serum, or 50 μL of cell culture supernatant, and provide analyzed results in just four hours.

ProcartaPlex assays utilize Luminex xMAP (multianalyte profiling) technology for simultaneous detection and quantitation of up to 80 protein targets in a single small-volume sample from plasma, serum, or cell culture supernatants.

The Luminex beads are internally dyed with precise proportions of red and infrared fluorophores to create spectrally unique signatures identifiable by Luminex detection systems (e.g., Luminex 200, FLEXMAP 3D, MAGPIX). Each bead is conjugated with antibodies specific to a single target protein, and detection is achieved using biotinylated antibodies and streptavidin–R-phycoerythrin (RPE).

Unlike traditional ELISA, the capture antibody in ProcartaPlex assays is conjugated to a bead rather than adsorbed to a microplate, allowing free-floating reactions. Instruments such as the Luminex 200 use dual lasers—one to identify bead signatures and another to quantify RPE fluorescence proportional to protein concentration. This enables profiling of multiple targets using less sample within similar assay timeframes.

ProcartaPlex panels are available across six species: human, mouse, rat, nonhuman primate, porcine, and canine.
