Target Information
STRAP is a 350 amino acid MAP activator with WD-40 repeats localized in both the cytoplasm and nucleus. It acts as an inhibitor of TGF-beta signaling and regulates cell proliferation. Stable expression of STRAP activates the MAPK/ERK pathway and down-regulates p21 (Cip1), leading to retinoblastoma protein hyperphosphorylation. Upregulation of STRAP may contribute to early tumor development in colorectal cancers. It is also a component of the U snRNP assembly machinery associated with the SMN complex, playing a key role in SMN1 intracellular distribution.
