Target Information
Members of the LDL receptor gene family, including LDLR (low density lipoprotein receptor), LRP1 (low density lipoprotein related protein), Megalin (GP330), VLDLR (very low density lipoprotein receptor), and ApoER2, are characterized by cysteine-rich class A repeats, EGF-like repeats, YWTD repeats, and an O-linked sugar domain.
LRP12 (also designated ST7) is a member of this family involved in internalization of lipophilic molecules and/or signal transduction. It interacts with RACK1, MADHIP, and Integrin beta-1-binding protein 3, and is widely expressed in heart, skeletal muscle, brain, lung, placenta, and pancreas. Overexpression of LRP12 may be associated with oral tumors, suggesting its potential role as an oncogene.
