Target Information
Adipose tissue plays a major role in regulating metabolic and immune processes by producing bioactive molecules known as adipokines. The adiponectin/ACRP30 family and its paralogs, CTRPs 1–7, are highly conserved adipokines. Unlike adiponectin, which is expressed only by adipocytes, CTRPs are found in various tissues and act mainly on liver and muscle to regulate glucose and lipid metabolism. CTRP6 contains at least four glycosylation motifs, indicating extensive post-translational modification.
