Target Information
Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins characterized by biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides. They range in molecular weight between approximately 40 kDa and 68 kDa, and have isoelectric points between pH 4.9 and 7.8.
Individual human cytokeratins are numbered 1 to 20. Expression patterns vary by epithelial type and differentiation stage, providing valuable diagnostic markers in distinguishing epithelial malignancies. Cytokeratin antibodies are widely used in immunohistochemistry, cytopathology, and flow cytometry for tumor classification and epithelial cell analysis.
