Target Information
Myc is a proto-oncogene encoding a nuclear phosphoprotein involved in cell cycle progression, apoptosis, and cellular transformation.
It forms a heterodimer with the transcription factor MAX, binding to E box DNA sequences to regulate gene transcription.
Amplification of this gene is common in various human cancers, and translocations are associated with Burkitt lymphoma and multiple myeloma.
Translation may initiate from both an upstream non-AUG (CUG) and a downstream AUG start site, producing two isoforms with distinct N-termini.
