Target Information
YBX1 binds to splice sites in pre-mRNA and regulates splice site selection. It stabilizes cytoplasmic mRNA and modulates translation by influencing interactions with eukaryotic initiation factors. YBX1 also binds to Y-box-containing promoters (5'-CTGATTGGCCAA-3'), such as HLA class II genes, regulating transcription of numerous genes. Additionally, it promotes DNA strand separation, exhibits endonucleolytic activity, and may contribute to DNA repair.
