Target Information
TRPCs are mammalian homologs of the Drosophila transient receptor potential (trp) protein and function as ion channels mediating capacitative calcium entry.
TRP-PLIK is a dual-function protein acting as both an ion channel and a kinase. It conducts calcium and monovalent cations to depolarize cells and raise intracellular calcium levels. Its kinase activity allows autophosphorylation and phosphorylation of other substrates, which is essential for channel function and dependent on intracellular ATP.
