Target Information
CD19 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily with two Ig-like domains. It is expressed on 100% of peripheral B cells and appears on certain myeloid leukemia cells, particularly of monocytic lineage. CD19 is the earliest and broadest B cell-restricted antigen and serves as a functional regulator of normal and malignant B cell proliferation. It plays a critical role in antigen receptor-dependent stimulation by lowering the activation threshold and can signal independently of BCR co-ligation. Mutations in CD19 lead to hypogammaglobulinemia, while overexpression results in B cell hyperactivity.
