Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the cyclin family. Cyclins regulate cell cycle transitions by activating cyclin-dependent kinases. Cyclin F also belongs to the F-box protein family, characterized by a 40 amino acid motif (F-box).
F-box proteins are subunits of the SCF ubiquitin ligase complex, functioning in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination.
They are classified into:
- Fbws: containing WD-40 domains
- Fbls: containing leucine-rich repeats
- Fbxs: containing various interaction modules or no recognizable motifs
Cyclin F belongs to the Fbxs class and was one of the first identified F-box proteins.
