마우스에서 Zic1 결손은 소뇌 무형성 및 골격 이상을 유발하며, Zic2 및 Zic3의 돌연변이는 인간 및 마우스에서 각각 전뇌증(holoprosencephaly)과 내장역위(heterotaxis)를 일으킵니다.
전뇌증은 인간 뇌의 가장 흔한 구조적 이상 중 하나입니다.
