Product Specific Information
- Recommended positive controls: rat brain, MDCK
- This antibody stains clathrin-coated membranes at the plasma membrane and Golgi region of methanol-fixed MDBK cells.
- By Western blot on bovine and rat brain, detects major AP-1 band (~115 kDa), minor component (~110 kDa), and AP2 bands (~104 and ~112 kDa).
- Reacts with ~100 kDa polypeptides in bovine liver, human heart fibroblasts, and MDBK cells; does not react with 110–115 kDa components from these or rat PC12 cells, neuroblastoma, or astrocytes.
Target Information
Adaptor protein complex 1 is located at the cytoplasmic face of coated vesicles in the Golgi complex. It mediates clathrin recruitment and recognition of sorting signals within cytosolic tails of transmembrane receptors.
This complex consists of two large, one medium, and one small adaptin subunit. The encoded protein is one of the large subunits and belongs to the adaptin family. It is a candidate meningioma gene, with multiple transcript variants produced by alternative splicing.
