Target Information
The SH3BP2 protein contains an N-terminal pleckstrin homology (PH) domain, an SH3-binding proline-rich region, and a C-terminal SH2 domain. It interacts with SH3 domains of proteins such as ABL1 and SYK tyrosine kinases, functioning as a cytoplasmic adaptor protein that positively regulates transcriptional activity in T, NK, and basophilic cells. Mutations in this gene cause cherubism. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
