Target Information
The LIMS1 gene encodes an adaptor protein containing five LIM domains (double zinc fingers). It is likely involved in integrin signaling through LIM domain-mediated interaction with integrin-linked kinase, found in focal adhesion plaques.
LIMS1 may act as a bridge linking integrin-linked kinase to NCK adaptor protein 2, associated with growth factor receptor kinase signaling pathways. Localization to the periphery of spreading cells suggests a role in integrin-mediated cell adhesion or spreading. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
