Target Information
Neuropilin 1 is a 923-amino-acid membrane-bound coreceptor belonging to the neuropilin family. It contains two CUB domains, two F5/8 type C domains, and a MAM domain. Neuropilin 1 forms a heterodimer with Neuropilin 2 (NRP2) and binds to plexin (PLXNB1) to form semaphorin receptors. Predominantly expressed in the nervous system, it plays roles in cardiovascular development, angiogenesis, axon guidance, neuronal circuit formation, cell survival, neuronal migration, and organogenesis. It acts as a receptor for semaphorins and VEGF, regulating VEGF-induced angiogenesis. Neuropilin 1 may be involved in advanced prostate carcinoma and breast cancer progression.
