Product Specific Information
- For IHC of PFA-fixed tissues: incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min.
Target Information
CEA (Carcinoembryonic Antigen, CD66e / CEACAM5) is synthesized during fetal gut development and re-expressed in intestinal carcinomas and other tumors.
It belongs to the immunoglobulin supergene family, comprising one N domain and six constant-like A and B domains.
CEA antibodies help identify metastatic adenocarcinomas and differentiate pulmonary adenocarcinomas (CEA+) from pleural mesotheliomas (weakly or rarely CEA+).
CEA functions as a cell adhesion molecule found on leukocytes, epithelia, and endothelia, mediating homophilic and heterophilic binding.
It plays roles in tissue differentiation, angiogenesis, apoptosis, tumor suppression, metastasis, and modulation of immune responses.
Multiple transcript variants exist, though not all full-length forms are defined.
