Synaptotagmin 1은 신경계 전반에 널리 발현되는 시냅스 소포막 당단백질로, Ca²⁺ 센서 역할을 하여 신경전달물질 방출과 관련된 소포의 외포작용을 조절합니다. SNAP25와의 Ca²⁺ 매개 결합은 막 융합의 Ca²⁺ 의존적 유발에 필수적이며, 특정 결합 도메인의 잔기들은 소포의 크기와 내포율을 결정합니다. Synaptotagmin 1은 신경 시냅스 활성영역에서 소포의 막 상호작용 및 이동을 조절하는 역할을 가지며, 산성 인지질과 Ca²⁺ 의존적으로 결합합니다. 또한 neurexin, syntaxin, AP2 등과 Ca²⁺ 비의존적으로 결합할 수 있습니다. Synaptotagmin 1 이상은 식중독성 및 유아 보툴리즘 등과 연관되어 있습니다.
