Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of GDF9 only when phosphorylated at Tyr394.

Target Information

GDF9 is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) family and the TGF-beta superfamily. These proteins contain a polybasic proteolytic processing site that is cleaved to produce a mature protein with seven conserved cysteine residues. Members of this family regulate cell growth and differentiation in embryonic and adult tissues. Growth factors synthesized by ovarian somatic cells directly affect oocyte growth and function. GDF9 is expressed in oocytes and is essential for ovarian folliculogenesis.
