Target Information
PRKG1 is a cGMP-dependent serine/threonine kinase with a key role in vascular smooth muscle relaxation and platelet aggregation inhibition. It regulates cardiovascular and neuronal functions, smooth muscle tone, and cell growth. PRKG1 is expressed in smooth muscle, platelets, cerebellar Purkinje cells, hippocampal neurons, and the lateral amygdala. Isoforms Iα and Iβ share cGMP-binding and catalytic domains but differ in regulatory regions, leading to distinct substrate affinities and kinase activities.
