Target Information
This gene encodes two proteins, the SART1 protein expressed in the nucleus of most proliferating cells, and the SART1 protein expressed in the cytosol of epithelial cancers. The SART1 protein is translated by a -1 frameshifting mechanism during posttranscriptional regulation, and its full-length sequence has not yet been published. Both encoded proteins are involved in proliferation regulation and possess tumor-rejection antigens. The SART1 antigen induces HLA-A2402-restricted cytotoxic T lymphocytes in cancer patients and may be useful for specific immunotherapy and diagnostic applications. It is also essential for the recruitment of the tri-snRNP to the pre-spliceosome in the spliceosome assembly pathway.
