Target Information
GRK1 is a member of the G protein receptor kinase (GRK) subfamily of Serine/Threonine kinases. It phosphorylates rhodopsin, initiating its deactivation. Phosphorylation promotes arrestin binding, which terminates the receptor signal. GRK1 is farnesylated for membrane association and inhibited by recoverin, a calcium-binding protein. GRK1 dysfunction is associated with Oguchi Disease-2 and Hereditary Night Blindness.
